Team Effort Leads Coker to 12-9 Win Over Lenoir-Rhyne

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Keith LaClair and Steven Zolezzi combined for eight of Coker's 12 goals in the men's lacrosse team's 12-9 come from behind victory over Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday (Apr. 6) evening.

After falling behind by four goals in the first quarter the Cobras put home 12 goals, while holding the Bears to just five. Leading the Coker defense was defender Tom Elliott and goaltender Tim Ryan. Elliott had four caused turnovers and seven ground balls and Ryan made 14 saves between the pipes.

LaClair and Zolezzi each finished the game with four goals, while Ryan Maurer netted two goals and dished out three assists. Mike Martiello and Ryan Vento each scored a goal as well. Vento's goal proved to be the eventual game winner, as it gave Coker the lead, 6-5, in the third quarter. Timothy Smith added two assists, with Adam Zinsmeister and John Bretton picking up an assist each as well. 

As a team the Cobras picked up 49 ground balls, were 20-for-22 on clear attempts and scored three man-up goals.

Coker will be back in action on Wednesday (Apr. 10) at home against Young Harris. Face-off is set for 3 p.m.
