Coker Men's Golf Finishes Fourth in the State Farm Intercollegiate

TAZEWELL, Tenn. – At the Woodlake Golf Club, the Coker University men's golf team finished fourth with a total score of 874 (+10) in three rounds of play at the 2019 State Farm Intercollegiate. Freshman Frederick Tindale had an impressive tournament as he shot a 214 (-2), which placed him tied for seventh individually. Tindale finished strong in round three, totaling four birdies and shooting for eagle on hole 17. The front nine in round three was Tindale's best, as he shot three under par (33) with four birdies. 

Freshman Killian Ryan finished ninth individually as he shot an even par for the tournament (216). Ryan's performance in round three was very consistent as he shot for par on 15 of the 18 holes, including two birdies. 

Sophomore Coleman Bess' score of 222 (+6) tied for 21st individually. Bess jumped out to a quick start as he birdied on three of the first five holes in round three. He shot two under par (34) on the front nine, his best round of the tournament. 

Junior Haydon Norwood was just one stroke behind, tying for 24th with a total of 223 (+7). Norwood finished with three birdies in round three, shooting for par on the front nine. Junior Nick Waller shot a 233 (+17), finishing strong on the back nine with three birdies while shooting one under par (35). 

"I'm proud of how we were able to finish the round on a strong note," said coach Sam Stark. "There is a lot of potential on this team and I'm excited to see how the rest of the season unfolds." 

The Cobras will be back in action on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 14 – Oct. 15) as they travel to Morganton, N.C. for the Donald Ross Intercollegiate at the Mimosa Hills Golf Club. Live scoring can be found at www.cokercobras.com.
