Coker Drives Home Fourth Consecutive Top-Five Finish at The Donald Ross Intercollegiate

Morganton, N.C.- The Coker College men's golf team concluded play at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate in fifth place, their fourth top-five finish of the season. Zachary Herold led the Cobras with a top-10 result, shooting 71 on Tuesday (Oct. 17) at the Mimosa Hills Country Club in Morganton, N.C. 

Coker finished in fifth place for the tournament. The top-five placement is the fourth time in as many tournaments the Navy and Gold have been inside that mark with one championship, a third place, and two fifth place finishes on the season.

On the final day of play, Zachary Herold jumped ahead of teammate Wanjoo Lee for the best individual finish on the team, firing off a final round 71 and tied for seventh overall. Lee had a two-day total of 150 and finished 20th individually.

Nicolas Parra and Ethan Cairns also finished inside the top-35 for the tournament. Parra placed tied for 27th with rounds of 73 and 78, while Cairns fired off a 36-hole total of 151 and finished tied for 33rd.

Rhett Merritt wrapped up play for the Cobras with a two-day total of 153.

The Donald Ross Intercollegiate golf tournament was the final fall event for the Coker College men's golf team. The Cobras' next tournament will be in 2018 at the Spring Kick-Off Intercollegiate held at Fleming Island Golf Club in Orange Park, Fla. Feb. 12-13.
