Coker in Second Place After Opening Round at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate

Morganton, N.C.- The Coker College men's golf team finished the first round of play at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate in second place with the help of a one-under par round of 69 from Wanjoo Lee and solid play from Zachary Herold and Nicolas Parra at Mimosa Hills Country Club in Morganton, N.C. Monday (Oct. 16) afternoon. 

Coker sits 12 shots back of the clubhouse leader Newberry College going into Tuesday's (Oct. 17) final round. Picking up right where he left off, Wanjoo Lee continued to tee up success on the golf course. Lee powered a first round 69 (-1), and currently sits in third place in individual play.

Zachary Herold and Nicolas Parra also played well with rounds of 72 (+2) and 73 (+3) to finish the day inside the top-15 individually. Herold sits tied for fifth while Parra is tied for 14th.

Rhett Merritt and Ethan Cairns capped off the round for the Cobras with scores of 77 and 76.

The Navy and Gold will wrap up play at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate on Tuesday (Oct. 17) afternoon from the Mimosa Hills Country Club. Results from the match can be found by visiting www.cokercobras.com.
