Cobras in Fourth At SAC Championship; Round One Suspended Due to Darkness

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Coker College men's golf team shot a team score of 290 on day one of the South Atlantic Conference Championship. The Cobras are in fourth on the team leaderboard after the opening 18 holes.

Ethan Cairns and Wanjoo Lee used opening rounds of 70 (-1) to lead the way for the Navy and Gold. Cairns birdied four of his final seven holes, while Lee birdied three of his last four. Both players are in a tie for third on the individual leaderboard. Matt Moninghoff, in the five spot, came up big for the Cobras, carding an opening round of 74. He is currently in a tie for 19th on the individual leaderboard. Will Bundy and Taylor Ingle rounded things out for the Cobras, carding rounds of 76 and 77.

Queens University of Charlotte is the leader in the clubhouse at 288 (+4), while Carson-Newman is the current team leader at even par with three players still to conclude the opening round. Gilberto Pena of Queens and Cameron Dugger of Tusculum are the individual overnight leaders, shooting rounds of 69 (-2).

Round one will conclude Monday morning (Apr. 24), with round two beginning immediately afterwards.
