Coker Names Goins Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Adam Goins has been named head coach for men's and women's golf at Coker College. He has served as interim head coach since September 2015.

"I am very grateful for this opportunity," Goins said. "I want to thank Dr. Wyatt and Dr. Griffin for the support and guidance they have given me since I arrived. I will continue to build on our success and bring conference, regional and national recognition to Coker through the golf programs."

Under Goins, the Cobra men notched five top-ten finishes, including a third-place finish in the South Atlantic Conference Championship. Junior Will Bundy won the individual title at the SAC Championship tournament, was named second team All-SAC and qualified for NCAA Regionals, being the first individual to do so since 2011. Freshman Wanjoo Lee also made the All-Tournament team at the SAC Championships, finishing in seventh.

On the women's side, the Navy and Gold had five top-ten finishes including a runner-up finish in the inaugural Coker Women's Invitational.

"Adam has been a great addition to our coaching staff," said vice president of athletics and athletic facilities Dr. Lynn Griffin. "I feel confident that he can lead both our men's and women's programs to success in the classroom, on the golf course and in our community."

Goins joined the Coker staff in January of 2015 as the assistant men's and women's golf coach. He was promoted to interim head coach in September of 2015.

A four-year standout golfer and two-time captain at USC Upstate, Goins had a 71.67 stroke average during his senior season to lead the Spartans. He also placed in the Top 10 in every tournament he played in, and posted seven rounds under par.

A native of Gaffney, S.C., he holds a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice with a minor in history from USC Upstate. He is currently, pursuing a masters of collegiate athletic administration at Coker.
