Cobras in Eighth After Day One of Mount Olive Invitational

GOLDSBORO, N.C. – The Coker College men's golf team shot an opening day (Apr. 6) 597 at the Mount Olive Invitational which left them in eighth place going into the final round. The Cobras shot rounds of 301 and 296 during the first 36 holes.

Will Bundy and Blake Baysden led the way for the Navy and Yellow. After opening with a 79 in his morning round, Bundy rebounded with a three-under 69 in the afternoon session in route to a day one total of 148. Baysden played a steady first 36 holes shooting rounds of 73 and 75. Both are in a tie for 18th place individually. Alex Rios is right on their heels with rounds of 75 and 74 on day one. John Duke finished with a two round score of 154 after signing off on rounds of 76 and 78. Jonathan Sundstrom rounded things out carding rounds of 77 and 79.

Limestone College is out in front after rounds of 285 and 295 in route to a day one score of 580. Griffin Brown of Limestone and Luke Atack of Newberry College have the individual lead overnight at one-under par.

Tee times will begin tomorrow (Apr. 7) morning at the Walnut Creek Country Club at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start The Cobras will start on holes 8-11.
