Coker Men’s Golf in Twelfth After First Day of Bearcat Classic

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Coker College men's golf team is in 12th place after day one (Mar. 23) of the Bearcat Classic hosted by Lander University. The Cobras shot rounds of 292 and 289 to propel them to a 581 (+5) 36-hole total.

Alex Rios and Will Bundy led the way on day one for the Navy and Yellow. Rios shot rounds of 73 and 67 in route opening day score of 140 (-4) and is tied for eighth place. Bundy fired rounds of 68 and 73 to finish with a 36-hole score of 141 (-3). He is in 12th place individually. Blake Baysden opened up with rounds of 71 and 73 resulting in a 144 (E) tournament total. Jonathan Sundstrom and John Duke rounded things out for the traveling five with 36-hole scores of 156 (+12) and 158 (+14). Sundstrom shot rounds of 80 and 76, while Duke signed off on rounds of 80 and 78.

Flagler College is on top of the team leaderboard with a team total of 555 (-21) after day one. Sebastian Barnoya of Flagler is the overnight leader after shooting rounds of 69 and 66 on the way to 135 (-9) 36-hole score.

Tee times will begin tomorrow (Mar. 24) morning at Greenwood Country Club.
