Cobras Claim 12th in Pirate Invitational

POOLER, GA. – The Coker men's golf team came in 12th at the Armstrong Pirate Invitational after shooting a three round total of 916 (+64).

The Cobras sat at the 16th spot after the first 36 holes, but a third round team score of 297 helped the Navy and Yellow improve upon their position.  The third round 297 came in as the seventh best team score of the day, which moved the team up for places.

Senior Josh Clay continued his steady play as he shot a final round 73 after a pair of 75's in his first two rounds.  Clay's three round total of 223 landed him tied for 28th individually.  Junior Christopher Fuga fired a third round 76 to finish with a three round total of 230. Both sophomore Blake Baysden and junior Zane Price improved during their third round, shooting 73 and 75 respectively. Baysden finished with a three round total of 231, while Price carded a 239 total.  Freshman Will Bundy rounded out the starting five with a final round score of 82, putting him at 239 for a three round total also.

Nova Southeastern University brought home the team title with a three round total of 857 (+5). They were able to edge host Armstrong Atlantic State University by a mere stroke.  Fredrik Lindblom of Clayton St. brought home the individual title shooting 209 (-4).

The Cobras are back in action on March 3rd as they head to Salisbury, N.C. to participate in the Richard Rendlemen Invitational.
