Men's Basketball Falls to No. 9 Lincoln Memorial on Saturday

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker University men's basketball team fell in South Atlantic Conference action to No. 9 Lincoln Memorial on Saturday (Nov. 30) by a score of 92-61.

Lincoln Memorial jumped out to an 11-7 lead by the first media timeout, before the Cobras would tie the game at 13 with a Malcolm Kennedy three-pointer with 14 minutes to play in the first half. The two teams would continue to feel each other out, playing to an 18-18 tie through the 12-minute mark. The Cobras would build a four-point lead with under 10 minutes to play in the half with a boost from a Noel Pinnock three-pointer, before the Cobras would eventually keep LMU down and boost their lead to eight with eight minutes to play in the half. Coming out of an LMU timeout, the Railsplitters got back within two at 33-31, before the Cobras would keep LMU at a one-possession distance for the next few minutes. KJ Harris would trade a layup with a three-pointer from Devin Whitfield, and the teams would deadlock at 42 with under two minutes to play in the half. No. 9 LMU would score the final bucket of the half on a Kamaran Calhoun layup with 44 seconds left to take a 44-42 lead to the half.

LMU would quickly build a six-point lead, before the Cobras would get back within two with 12 and a half minutes to play. LMU would take control of the game from there on their way to the road victory.

Pinnock led the Cobras with 12 points in the contest, while Royce Hunter was the only other Cobra in double figures with 10 points. Seven other Cobras contributed points in the game. Pinnock was also the team's leading rebounder with seven, while Williams Oneyodi also had five boards in the game. Nine other Cobras were active on the glass in the game. Hunter and Harris each had three assists in the game, while six others also dished out assists in the contest. Harris led Coker with three steals on the day, while Pinnock and Oneyodi each had one. Harris had two rejections in the game, while AJ McQuaige also had one block.

The Cobras are back on the floor next Saturday (Dec. 7) to host Mars Hill in South Atlantic Conference play. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m. from the DeLoach Center, with video and live stats available at www.cokercobras.com.
