Samuels Named to SAC All-Conference Second Team, Green Earns All-Freshman Team Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Coker's Donte Samuels has been named to the South Atlantic Conference Second Team, while Marquis Green earned SAC All-Freshman Team honors, the league announced today.

Samuels, a 6-5 senior forward from Rocky Mount, N.C. was a force to be reckoned with on both ends of the floor this season. Samuels played in 29 games and started in the 27 of them for the Navy and Gold. In addition, Samuels led the Cobras in scoring and rebounds, averaging 16 points per game and gathering 7.6 rebounds per game. His mark in points per game is good for sixth in the SAC, while his average in rebounds per game places him fifth in the conference. The senior forward also led the Cobras in assists per game, dishing out 2.2 per contest and adding 1.5 steals per game on the defensive end.

Samuels surpassed two career milestones this season as well, totaling over 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds. He finishes his career with 1,254 career points and 540 career rebounds. His career total in points puts him sixth in the Coker record book, while his career mark in rebounds places him third in the Coker record book. This is Samuels third time earning All-Conference honors as he was named to the Honorable Mention teams in the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons.

The business major is the son of Semora Samuels-Harris and Henry Harris.

Green, a 6-0 freshman from Darlington, S.C. had a breakout season for the Cobras, playing in 27 games and starting in five of them. He averaged 7.9 points per game, dished out 1.8 assists per game, and collected 1.2 steals per game.

The sports communication major is the son of Lavonda and Maurice Green.

Additionally, the Coker College men's basketball team led the conference in total steals with 280.
