Samuels Surpasses 500 Career Rebounds in Loss to Catawba

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team fell to the Catawba College Indians 79-77 on Wednesday (Feb. 14) evening in South Atlantic Conference action. 

Four Cobras scored in double figures, led by 15 points apiece from Khalil Halls, Jake Barrett, and Donte Samuels.  Samuels recorded his sixth double-double of the season, adding 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals. In addition, Samuels collected his 500th career rebound in the second half representing the Navy and Gold. Samuels now has 502 career rebounds (5th best in Coker history) and 1,180 career points (10th best in Coker history) as a Cobra.

The game remained close throughout, with 14 ties and 16 lead changes between the teams.  Coker had the ball with chance to win in the final seconds, but was unable to get a clean shot attempt as time expired. 

The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday (Feb. 17) when the top-ranked Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters visit for a South Atlantic Conference matchup. Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m. in the DeLoach Center.
