Coker Hosts Catawba in Midweek SAC Contest

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team will welcome the Catawba College Indians tomorrow (Feb. 14) in South Atlantic Conference action at 8 p.m. 

The Cobras had a victorious homecoming, sweeping the Tusculum Pioneers 104-93 for their third-straight victory. Jake Barrett led the Navy and Gold on the offensive end with 21 points. Donte Samuels followed Barrett with 20 points and 10 rebounds. 

Coker heads into tomorrow's game with three players averaging double-digit figures in points per game. Samuels leads Coker averaging 15.7 points per game. Khalil Halls is Coker's second leading scorer, accumulating 15.0 per game, while Barrett is the final Cobra averaging double-digit numbers with 14.0 per game. Samuels and Halls average points per game land them both in the top 10 in the SAC, ranking sixth and ninth respectively. 

On the defensive end, Samuels has led the Cobras with a team-leading 7.1 rebounds per game and is nine rebounds away from reaching 500 career boards. Barrett leads the Cobras with 1.7 steals per game, trailed by Samuels with 1.6 steals per game.

Catawba enters tomorrow's contest with an 8-13 overall record that includes an 5-11 mark in SAC action. Jerrin Morrison leads the Catawba Indians offensively, averaging 21.4 points per game. 

As mentioned, opening tip is set for 8 p.m. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free to all Coker faculty, staff, and students.
