Coker Triumphs Over Tusculum for Third-Straight Victory

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team picked up their third straight victory with a 104-93 win over the Tusculum College Pioneers on Saturday (Feb. 10) evening.

The Cobras took control early, jumping out to a 24-15 lead, but the Pioneers answered with a 9-2 run of their own to cut the lead to 26-24 with 9:30 remaining.  The teams played evenly for the remainder of the half with Coker entering halftime ahead 45-43. 

The game remained close in the second half with the two teams combining for nine ties and eight lead changes throughout the game.  Coker finally grabbed control with an 8-0 spurt that began and ended with three-pointers from Khalil Halls with under five minutes remaining. 

Halls hit four of ten of his three-point attempts and scored 14 points with five rebounds and three assists in the game. Jake Barrett led the way for the Cobras scoring 21 points, and adding five assists and three steals. Donte Samuels poured in 20 points and 10 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season. 

Coker will be back in action on Wednesday (Feb. 14) when they face the Catawba College Indians in the DeLoach Center.  Tipoff is set for 8 p.m.
