Cobras Drop SAC Matchup Against No. 2 Queens

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team fell to the No. 2 Queens University Royals in a Wednesday (Jan. 31) night South Atlantic Conference matchup. 

The Cobras and Royals played a highly competitive first half that had both squads exchange leads. With 4:56 remaining in the opening frame of play, the Navy and Gold knocked down five-straight points with a three-pointer from Chase Brewington and a jumper from Donte Samuels to take a 35-34 lead over the Royals. Queens battled back and regained the lead to take a 42-35 lead into the locker rooms.  The Royals held onto their lead the rest of the way for the victory. 

Khalil Halls led the Cobras with 16 points, while Marquis Green and Samuels finished with 12 points each. Demarco Jackson chipped in 10 points, and Dakota Jennings scored six and collected a team-best five rebounds. 

The Navy and Gold will be back on the court on Saturday (Feb. 3), when they travel to Mars Hill to take on the Lions. Opening tip is set for 4 p.m.
