Cobras Host Trojans on First Responders/Military Appreciation Day

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team will host the Anderson University Trojans on Saturday (Jan. 13) in a South Atlantic Conference matchup. Opening tip is set for 4 p.m. in the DeLoach Center. Live stats and video will be available at www.cokercobras.com. In addition, military veterans, active duty, and first responders will be honored during the game. 

The Navy and Gold head into tomorrow's game with three players averaging double-digit figures in points per game. Donte Samuels leads Coker averaging 15.8 points per game and has now totaled 1,042 career points representing Coker. Additionally, Samuels has spread the ball around, dishing out a team-best 2.6 assists per game. Khalil Halls is Coker's second leading scorer, accumulating 14.1 per game, while Jake Barrett is the final Cobra averaging double-digit numbers with 13.6 per game. 

On the defensive end, Samuels has led the Cobras with a team-leading 7.9 rebounds per game and 1.6 steals per game. Samuels rebound average is good for fourth in the SAC. Barrett has assisted the Cobras on the defensive end as well, adding 1.6 steals per game to tie Samuels with the team's best mark in the category. 

Anderson enters tomorrow's contest with a 5-11 overall record that includes a 3-5 mark in SAC action. Randall Shaw leads the Trojans offensively, averaging 17.1 points per game.   

As mentioned, opening tip is set for 4 p.m. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free to all Coker faculty, staff, and students. Military veterans, active duty, and first responders who present a valid I.D. will receive free admission.
