Cobras Host Royals in Final Game Before the Holidays

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team will host the No. 2 ranked Queens University Royals on Monday (Dec. 18) at 8 p.m. in South Atlantic Conference play. Live stats and video can be found at www.cokercobras.com. 

This past Saturday (Dec. 16), the Cobras defeated Mars Hill 98-85 in a South Atlantic Conference matchup. The Navy and Gold were led by Donte Samuels, who recorded a double-double with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Jake Barrett added 21 points and five rebounds, and Larry Cooper notched a double-double off the bench with 14 points and 12 rebounds. 

The Navy and Gold head into tomorrow's game with three players averaging double-digit figures in points per game. Samuels leads Coker averaging 16.4 points per game and is nearing 1,000 career points with 986 through 12 games in the 2017-18 season. Additionally, Samuels has spread the ball around, dishing out a team-best 2.5 assists per game. Barrett is Coker's second leading scorer, accumulating 14.5 per game, while Halls is the final Cobra averaging double-digit numbers with 12.6 per game. On the defensive end, Samuels has anchored the Cobras with a team-leading 7.7 rebounds per game. Cooper is another Cobra to follow, averaging eight points per game and bringing down 5.7 rebounds per game. 

Queens enters tomorrow's contest with a 10-0 record. Todd Withers leads the Royals offensively, averaging 14.6 points per game. 

As mentioned, opening tip is set for 8 p.m. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free to all Coker faculty, staff, and students.
