Cobras and Warriors Square Off in Non-Conference Matchup

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team will return to the friendly confines of the DeLoach Center on Saturday (Dec. 2) at 4 p.m. to take on the visiting Southern Wesleyan University Warriors for a non-conference matchup. Live stats and video can be found a www.cokercobras.com. 

This past Wednesday (Nov. 29), the Cobras defeated Lenoir-Rhyne 88-75 in their South Atlantic Conference opener. Five Coker players reached double figures during the contest. Marquis Green led the Cobras with 19 points, followed by Donte Samuels (16), Khalil Halls (13), Jake Barrett (11), and Demarco Jackson (11). 

The Navy and Gold head into tomorrow's game with three players averaging double-digit figures in points per game. Samuels leads Coker averaging 13.9 points per game, while Halls has accumulated 13.6 per game. Jake Barrett is the final Cobra averaging double-digit numbers with 11.6 per game. On the defensive end, Samuels has anchored the Cobras with a team-leading 7.6 rebounds per game, good for fifth in the South Atlantic Conference, and 1.9 steals per game. Larry Cooper is another Cobra to watch, averaging 7.9 points per game and bringing down 5.6 rebounds per game. 

Southern Wesleyan enters tomorrow's contest with a 1-7 record. Justice McCullough leads the Warriors offensively, averaging 15.4 points per game. 

As mentioned, opening tip is set for 4 p.m. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free to all Coker faculty, staff, and students.
