Cobras Welcome Lions on Play 4 Kay Day

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team will take on the visiting Mars Hill University Lions on Saturday (Feb. 18) at 4 p.m. in a South Atlantic Conference matchup. Live stats and video are available at www.cokercobras.com.

Coker picked up a 76-68 win the last time the two sides met on Jan. 9. Four Cobras scored in double figures, led by the 17-point effort of Jake Barrett.

Offensively, the Cobras are led by the double-digit scoring duo of JaQuez Motley and Jake Barrett. Motley comes in averaging 12.2 points per game, while Barrett is pouring in 11.4 points per contest. Barrett is coming off a career-high 24 points against Wingate. Miguel Priest is averaging 9.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, while Nathan Lemke is chipping in 9.3 points and 6.7 rebounds a game. Lemke ranks first in the SAC in three-point percentage, shooting 50 percent from downtown, while he ranks twelfth in field goal percentage, shooting 51.2 percent from the floor.

As a team, the Navy and Gold rank in the top-10 in Division II in turnovers forced and total steals. On average, the Cobras are forcing 18.4 turnovers per game, ranking eighth in Division II. In total, Coker ranks ninth in total steals, swiping 232 this season. On the offensive glass, Coker ranks second in the SAC and 21st in Division II, pulling down 13.7 offensive boards per game.

Mars Hill enters the weekend with a 5-20 record and a 3-16 mark in SAC play. Vernon Jackson leads the Lions offensively, averaging 11.4 points per game.

Fans are encouraged to wear pink. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m. at Dan Schmotzer Court at the DeLoach Center. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
