JEFFERSON CITY, TENN., - The Coker College men's basketball team's season came to an end Wednesday (Mar. 4) night after a 69-63 loss to the Carson-Newman University Eagles on the road in the South Atlantic Conference tournament quarterfinals.

The first half ended the way it began as both teams were tied up at 30-30 after the first 20 minutes of action.

The back and forth contest would continue into the second half as the two teams totaled for 25 lead changes and 12 ties. Neither team led by more than four points until an Alex Cohen three-pointer with 9:53 left in the second half put the Navy and Yellow up by seven. The basket also capped off an 8-0 Coker run. However, an Eagles 6-0 run would cut the Cobras lead to just one. After a basket by Aubrey Daniel, Coker was back out to a 57-53 lead. The Eagles would then go on an 8-0 run to put them up 61-57. Back-to-back baskets by Errick Bethel and Trey Marshall tied it up at 61 all with 1:35 left. Clutch shooting and made free-throws over the next 90 seconds by Carson-Newman would seal their six-point, 69-63, victory.

Daniel finished the game with season-high 18 points while also pulling down five rebounds. Donte Samuels once again shot over 50 percent from the field while chipping in with 13 points and five rebounds. Marshall was effective on both ends of the floor scoring 12 points, pulling down six rebounds and dishing out five assists. Trey James pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with six points.

The loss brings the Coker men's basketball team's season to a close.
