Coker Comes From Behind to Defeat Mars Hill 76-69

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Coker Cobras poured in 46 second half points to come from behind and defeat the Mars Hill Lions, 76-69, on Saturday (Feb. 7) in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action.

The Cobras found themselves down by eight, 38-30, at halftime, but with the help of a 16-6 run took lead midway through the second half and they never looked back.

Errick Bethel led all scorers with 29 points, 12 of which came from long range. He also hit 13 of 14 shots from the free throw line. Also scoring in double figures for the Cobras were Donte Samuels and Trey Marshall. Samuels netted 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Marshall chipped in 11 points with five boards and three assists.

With the win, the Cobras move to 8-8 in the SAC and are tied for fifth place with Newberry.

Coker will return home for its next game on Wednesday (Feb. 11) against Catawba. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. at the DeLoach Center. It will be Coker's Play 4 Kay night and fans are asked to wear pink to the games in support of breast cancer awareness.
