Cobras Cage Bulldogs, 67-62

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Four Cobras scored in double figures to lead the Coker men's basketball team to a 67-62 win over the Wingate Bulldogs on Wednesday (Jan. 28) night in South Atlantic Conference action.

Trey James led the attack with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Trey Marshall scored a team-high 12 points and pulled down five rebounds, while Alex Cohen and Donte Samuels chipped in 11 points each.

In a tightly contested game from start to finish the Cobras jumped out to an early lead. The Bulldogs battled back, but Coker took a narrow 28-27 lead into halftime.

The second half was a back and forth grudge match with neither team taking more than a five-point lead. Wingate held a slim one-point lead, 59-58 with two minutes left in the game, but back-to-back buckets by Marshall put the Cobras on top, 62-59. The Bulldogs would pull within two, 64-62 with 30 seconds left to play, but a layup by James would seal the win for the Cobras.

Coker will be back to action on Saturday (Jan. 31) in another SAC matchup at home against the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. following the women's game.
