Coker Men Looking to Open 2015 with Win Over Tornados

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team will be back in the friendly confines of the DeLoach Center on Saturday (Jan. 3) for a South Atlantic Conference matchup against the visiting Brevard College Tornados. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m., with live stats and broadcast provided at www.cokercobras.com.

The Navy and Yellow took down the Tornados at home last season with a convincing 108-80 victory.

The Cobras are led by senior guard Errick Bethel who is averaging a team-high 19.3 points per game, which ranks second-best in the SAC. Junior forward Trey James is the leader on the defensive side of the ball averaging a team best 6.4 rebounds a game, ninth-best in the SAC.  As a team, the Cobras are third-best in the conference from the free-throw line shooting 70.4 percent on the season.

The Tornados travel to Hartsville sporting a 3-8 overall record and a 1-4 conference mark. They are led by the scoring duo of Darius Moose and Trevon Shaw. Moose leads the conference averaging 19.9 points per game, while Shaw is chipping in 16.5 points per contest.

Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. at the DeLoach Center, immediately following the women's game which begins at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for reserved seats, $5 dollars for adults, $3 dollars for students, and free for all Coker students, faculty and staff.
