Cobras Dethrone Royals 72-68

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker Cobras picked up a 72-68 South Atlantic Conference victory over the Queens Royals on Tuesday (Nov. 25) evening in collegiate men's basketball action.

The Cobras fell behind in the opening stanza, trailing 36-32 heading into halftime. The Cobras came out firing on all cylinders in the second half as they out scored the Royals 40-32 to take home the 72-68 victory.

Donte Samuels led all scorers with 22 points and seven rebounds, while Jalen Watson netted 12 points with three rebounds off the bench. Errick Bethel was the third Cobra to score double figures with 11 points and a pair of assists. Trey James cleaned up on the boards with nine rebounds, he also added four points and Trey Marshall had seven points, four rebounds and three assists.

As a team the Cobras out rebounded the Royals 32-30, they also converted 16 Royal turnovers into 22 points and scored 19 points off the bench.

Coker will return to the floor after the Thanksgiving holiday for a non-conference game on Saturday (Nov. 29) at Benedict College. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
