Coker's Felder Scores 28 in 73-65 Loss to Campbell

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Senior Larry Felder scored a game-high 28 points in Coker's 73-65 loss to Division I Campbell University on Saturday (Nov. 8) evening in the Cobras' men's basketball exhibition game.

The Cobras opened the game by taking a 32-23 lead in the first half. They converted 10 Camel turnovers into 10 points and had 16 second-chance points. As a team the Cobras dominated the boards in the first half pulling down 25 rebounds, compared to just 17 for the Camels.

In the second half, Campbell came out of the locker room ready to play as they mounted a come back in the first seven minutes of action with 10-2 run that tied the game at 39. The Camels led by as much as  eight points over the next six minutes, but the Cobras continued to battle, cutting the lead to just four, 58-54 with 6:16 left in the game.  The game stayed within four points until the Camels put the game away with a pair of baskets in the final minute of action on their way to a 73-65 victory. 

Felder led all scorers with a double-double of 28 points and 11 rebounds, while Errick Bethel added 15 points, two rebounds and two assists. Donte Samuels poured in eight points with a pair of boards and Trey Marshall had four points and five rebounds.

As a team the Cobras out rebounded the Camels 38-33. They scored 40 points in the paint and converted 25 second-chance points.

The Cobras will officially open the season on Friday (Nov. 14) at home against North Greenville University at 8 p.m. The game will be part of the two-day Sodexo SAC/Conference Carolinas Challenge hosted by Coker at the DeLoach Center.
