Team Effort Leads Coker to 90-71 Win Over Tusculum

GREENEVILLE, TENN. – Five Cobras scored 10 or more points as Coker closed out the regular season with a 90-71 victory over Tusculum in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action Saturday (Mar. 1). With the win the Cobras secure their spot in the Food Lion SAC Men's Basketball Tournament next week.

The Cobras jumped out to a 20-9 lead in the first half, only to have the Pioneers battle back and make it a one-point Coker lead, 37-36, at halftime. Coker turned up the pressure on both ends of the floor in the second half as they scored 53 points and held Tusculum to just 35 to take home the 90-71 victory.

As a team the Cobras shot 45.5 percent from the field and out rebounded the Pioneers 42-30. They also scored 23 points off 17 Tusculum turnovers and added 20 second-chance points.

Larry Felder led the way for Coker with game's only double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds. Julian Nelson scored a game high 22 points and Errick Bethel chipped in 14 points. Eren Moses added 11 points and six rebounds, while Trey Marshall scored 10 points with four rebounds and four assists.

Next up for the Cobras will be the quarterfinals of the Food Lion SAC Men's Basketball Tournament on Wednesday (Mar. 5) evening. As the No. 7 seed in the tournament, Coker will travel to the No. 2 seed Carson-Newman. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
