Team Effort Leads Coker to 81-59 Win Over Catawba

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Coker Cobras used a strong second half to defeat the Catawba Indians, 81-59, on Monday (Feb. 17) night in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action.  With the win the Cobras improve to 12-10 overall and 9-9 in league play.

Six different Coker players registered double figures, with Larry Felder leading the charge with a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds.  Julian Nelson was the leading scorer for Coker with 15 points and four rebounds. Trey Marshall chipped in 13 points with five assists, while Eren Moses added 11 points and five rebounds. Donte Samuels recorded a career high 10 points with seven rebounds and Errick Bethel also scored 10 points.  

After falling behind 4-2 in the opening two minutes, the Cobras took the lead and never looked back. Leading 35-27 at the break, Coker piled on 46 points during the second half, including a 33-8 run to take home the victory.

As a team Coker turned 20 Catawba turnovers into 21 points, out rebounded the Indians 46-42 and shot 88.9 percent from the charity stripe.

The Cobras will be back on the hardwood on Wednesday (Feb. 19) when they host the Wingate Bulldogs in a SAC game starting at 8 p.m. following the women's game at 6 p.m.
