Cobras Looking for Season Sweep of Lions

HARTSVILLE, S.C – The Coker men's basketball team will be thinking sweep when it takes on the Lions of Mars Hill University on Saturday (Feb. 8) in a South Atlantic Conference showdown. The Cobras tamed the Lions 95-79 back in December and will be expecting the same performance in the friendly confines of the Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. with a live webcast available at www.cokercobras.com.

Coker will rely on the scoring prowess of Julian Nelson (18.3 ppg) and Larry Felder (12.5 ppg) to lead an offense averaging a shade under 80 points per game. Long distance sniper Errick Bethel (38.3 3pt %) will once again be tasked with the job of spreading the floor for the Cobras. Coker is currently eight in the SAC standings and can move into a tie for seventh place with a win on Saturday.

The Lions enter the game with a 4-16 overall record and 2-13 conference mark. Mars Hill is a dismal 1-9 on the road, but are winners of their last contest against Brevard. The Lions offense is led by Carter Wright and his 14.7 points per game, while Devonte Williams and Isaiah Cuthbertson contribute 14.1 and 13 points per game, respectively.

Tickets for Saturday's game can be purchased at the door for $5 dollars for adults, $3 dollars for students, and are free to all Coker students, faculty, and staff.
