Cobras Looking to Settle Pioneers in SAC Matchup

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's basketball team will play host to the Pioneers of Tusculum College on Saturday (Jan. 25) afternoon in South Atlantic Conference action. The game is set for a 4 p.m. tip and will be broadcast live on www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras are looking to get back to their winning ways after dropping back-to-back games for the first time all season. The navy and yellow are led by a trio of double figure scorers who average 11 points or more. Julian Nelson headlines the trio and has been on a scoring rampage of late. The senior is averaging 23.5 points over the last four games and has raised his season average to 17.1 during that time. Larry Felder's 13.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game are good for second on the team in both categories. Teon Beckett chips in 11 points, while pulling down a team-high 6 boards per game.

Tusculum is 2-15 overall and 1-10 in the SAC. The Pioneers had been on a 13-game losing streak before picking up a 71-64 win over archrival Carson-Newman on Wednesday (Jan. 22) night. Tusculum relies heavily on the scoring of Addison Flynn, Darius Carter and Jalen Walker. Flynn's 16.5 points per game leads the team, while Carter and Walker contribute 14.2 and 11.9 points, respectively.

Tickets for Saturday's game can be purchased at the door for $5 dollars for adults, $3 dollars for students, and are free to all Coker students, faculty, and staff. Saturday's game will also be Let's Can Hunger Night sponsored by the Coker College Enactus team. Fans bringing two or more non-perishable food items will receive free admission to the games. Enactus will also be giving fans a chance to win prizes with promotions during halftime.
