Cobras, Indians to Square Off in SAC Showdown

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's basketball team will be back in action Wednesday (Jan. 15) when it takes on the Catawba College Indians in a South Atlantic Conference matchup. The game is slated for an 8 p.m. tip in the Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium and will be broadcast live on www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras are coming off a remarkable 83-81 come-from-behind win against Anderson University and enter the game at 7-5 overall, with a 4-4 SAC mark. The trio of Julian Nelson, Larry Felder and Teon Beckett have been the scoring leaders for the Cobras all season with averages of 15.7, 13.3 and 10.8 points per game, respectively. However, the real difference maker for Coker this season has been super-sub guard Trey Marshall. Marshall has averaged 9.9 points, 2.7 assists, and 1.2 steals in 20 minutes per game and has accounted for two game-winners on the year.

Catawba is 4-8 on the season with a 4-4 conference record and is currently on a two-game winning streak. The Indians rely heavily on the scoring of Kijuan Arrington and Tyrece Little, as the duo are the only double figure scorers on the roster at 18.7 and 14.5 points per game, respectively.

Tickets for Wednesday night's game can be purchased at the door for $5 dollars for adults, $3 dollars for students, and are free to all Coker students, faculty, and staff. It will also be First Responders Night at Coker, as first-response personnel such as fire, police, and emergency medical service workers, and their families, will receive free admission to the games.
