Cobras Blow Past the Tornados 108-80

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Cobra men's basketball team blew past the Brevard Tornados 108-80 on Saturday in their South Atlantic Conference match-up. With the win Coker improves to 6-4 overall and 3-3 in the SAC.

Five different Cobras scored in double digits, and 14 players total combined for the 108 Coker points. Larry Felder led the way with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Teon Beckett, Julian Nelson and Errick Bethel scored 13 points each and James Brown added a career high 10 points.

As a team the Cobras shot 66 percent from the field and 48 percent from beyond the arc. They also scored 68 points off the bench and held the lead from start to finish.

Coker started the game with a 27-7 run and they never looked back. Heading into halftime the score was 51-29 in favor of the Cobras. Brevard was able to put up 51 points in the second half, but Coker tallied 57 of their own to take home the 108-80 victory. The 108 points was just eight points shy of the Cobras all-time record of 115 points in a game. 

The Cobras will be back in action on Wednesday (Jan. 8) at home against the Queens University of Charlotte Royals. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. following the women's game at 6 p.m. It will be Trinity Byrnes Night at Coker, with all Trinity Byrnes faculty, staff and students will receiving free admission to the games.
