Coker Men's Hoops Set to Host Brevard

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's basketball team will kick-off 2014 this Saturday (Jan. 4), as they host South Atlantic Conference foe Brevard College in the Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. and the game will be available for a live webcast at www.cokercobras.com.

The navy and yellow enter the new year at 5-4 overall and 2-3 in SAC competition. Four Cobras are averaging double figures this season. Julian Nelson and his 15.3 points per game lead the quartet, while Larry Felder is second on the team at 13.4 points and is pulling down 5.3 boards a game. Teon Beckett and Trey Marshall both average 10.2 points per, while pulling down 5.3 rebounds and dishing out 2.8 assists a game, respectively.

The Tornados dropped their most recent contest against The Citadel and enter the game at 2-7, with a 2-3 conference mark. Darius Moose and Dominique Pickett lead Brevard with 18 and 15.8 points per game, respectively. Trevon Shaw's 66.3 three-point field-goal percentage leads the conference and is good for third in NCAA Division II.

Tickets for Saturday's game can be purchased at the door for $5 dollars for adults, $3 dollars for students, and free to all Coker students, faculty, and staff. It will also be Youth Basketball Day at Coker, with all youth basketball players dressed in uniform receiving free admission to the games.
