Cobras Fall to Division I College of Charleston in Exhibition

CHARLESTON, S.C.  – The Coker men's basketball team suffered a 68-54 loss at the hands of College of Charleston Cougars on Thursday (Dec. 12) night. The loss does not affect the Cobras record, as it is exhibition game against the Division I Cougars.

Julian Nelson posted a team high 18 points with two rebounds, while Eren Moses posted 15 points and seven rebounds. Larry Felder chipped in eight points and Trey Marshall added four.

The Cobras and the Cougars played a very close first half with neither team gaining more than an eight-point lead. Coker held a three-point advantage twice during the half, 5-2 with 18 minutes left and 7-4 with 15:46 remaining. The Cougars used an 8-0 run with 8:22 left to take the lead, 19-13. The Cobras pulled within two, 20-18, with six minutes left, but Charleston was able to keep Coker at bay for the remainder of the half, taking a 32-26 lead into the break.

Like the first half, the second half was very close. Nelson's back-to-back three-pointers brought the Cobras within two, 36-34 with just under 17 minutes left in the half. Unfortunately that would be as close as Coker would get for the remainder of the game, as Charleston played solid defense keeping the Cobras off the board.

The Cobras will return to the court on Saturday (Dec. 14) for a South Atlantic Conference game at Mars Hill University. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
