Cobras Top Saints 75-73

PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Cobra men's basketball team pulled out a 75-73 win over Limestone College on Saturday (Nov. 16) at the UNCP Invitational. The win moves Coker to 2-0 on the year.

For the second consecutive game, the Cobras secured the victory in the closing seconds of the game. This time is was Trey Marshall that nailed the game winning layup with just 35 seconds left, giving Coker the 74-73 advantage. The Cobra defense held off the Saints in the final seconds, and a steal by Eren Moses closed the door on a Limestone comeback. A free throw by Larry Felder with two seconds left gave Coker the 75-73 win.

Felder led the Cobra offense with 22 points and seven rebounds, while Marshall added 12 points. Also netting double digits were Teon Beckett and Julian Nelson. Beckett had 13 points, five assists and four rebounds and Nelson added 10 points and seven rebounds.

It was a close game from start to finish, with 10 ties and 11 lead changes in 40 minutes of action. After the first half the score was deadlocked at 35. The second half was just as close, but a solid defensive performance by the Cobras locked in the victory.  The Cobras converted 18 Limestone turnovers into 22 points and shot 45.9 percent from the floor.

The Cobras will be back on the hardwood for their first South Atlantic Conference game of the year on Wednesday (Nov. 20) at 8 p.m. at Newberry College.
