Mount Olive Defeats Coker, 86-66

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – Julian Nelson and Errick Bethel combined for 30 points to pace the Cobras in their 86-66 loss to Mount Olive College on Wednesday (Feb. 13) night in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action. The loss snaps Coker's three-game winning streak and moves the Cobras to 12-9 overall and 9-6 in league play.

Nelson and Bethel scored 15 points each, while Andrew Morris added 12 points for Coker. Sharod Williams pulled down a game high 12 rebounds with five points and Nelson had seven rebounds.  As a team the Cobras out rebounded the Trojans 38-32, and they shot 37.5 percent from the field and 75 percent from the charity stripe.

Coker took the initial lead of the ball game, but Mount Olive erased the deficit taking a 33-28 advantage into the locker room. The Cobras kept things close early on in the second half, trailing by just three points, 43-40, with 16:24 remaining. However, that would be as close as Coker would get to Mount Olive, as Trojans keep the Cobras off the board and took home the eventual win.

The Cobras will be back on the court on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at home against Pfeiffer University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Coker defeated Pfeiffer in their first meeting of the season, 64-51 on Jan. 24.
