Coker Men Defeated by St. Andrews 84-72

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker junior Sharod Williams (Miami, Fla.) scored 17 points with 11 rebounds for a double-double in the Cobra men's basketball team's 84-72 loss to St. Andrews at home Tuesday night. The loss drops the Cobras to 7-6 overall and 1-3 in Conference Carolinas play.

Coker got off to a rocky start and never seemed to find their groove. The Knights opened the game with a 9-3 run and never relinquished the lead the entire first half. St. Andrews took a 10-point lead, 42-32 into the break.

After the intermission, the Cobras used a 12-2 opening run tie the game for the first time at 44, with 17 minutes left to play,. Things stayed fairly tight over the next 10 minutes with Coker taking as much as a five-point lead, but the Knights were not to be out done.

With the scored even at 67, Antonio Moffitt nailed a knockdown three with 5:44 remaining to give St. Andrews the momentum needed to take home the win. Over the final five minutes the Knights scored 17 points, while holding Coker to just five. 

Leading the Cobra scoring was sophomore Julian Nelson (Irmo, S.C.) with 19 points and nine rebounds.

St. Andrew's Aaron Christian was the game's leading scorer with 26 points, while Ryan Streater and Moffitt scored 17 and 16 points respectively and Chris Sumski added 11.

Coker will be back in action on Saturday at home against King College. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
