Coker Comes from Behind to Defeat UNCP 59-53

PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Coker Cobras improved to 2-0 in men's basketball on Saturday with a 59-53 come from behind win over the UNC Pembroke Braves. With the win the Cobras became the only team to escape the UNC Pembroke Holiday Classic without a loss.

Trailing 29-22 at halftime, Coker outscored the Braves 37-24 in the second half to take home the victory.

Avery Harris (Lancaster, S.C.) led the Cobras with 10 points off the bench, while Eren Moses (New York, N.Y.) added nine points and six rebounds. Julian Nelson (Irmo, S.C.) was the Cobras leading rebounder with eight.

As a team Coker was lights out from the charity stripe hitting 20 of 23 shots ( 87 percent).

Pembroke's George Blakeney led the Braves offense with 14 points, while Marcus Heath chipped in with 12 points.

Coker returns to action on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. on the road against Division I East Carolina University.
