Coker Esports Defeats West Texas A&M and Kirkwood Community College

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker Cobras Overwatch team played in week 4 of the Overwatch preseason against West Texas A&M and Kirkwood Community College.

The first match was against West Texas A&M and started on Oasis. Coker came out of the gate swinging taking control of the point and holding it to win the first round. In the second round Coker was once again able to get the point first but this time West Texas A&M was able to take control away from the Cobras. After a quick reground, Coker was able to win the next fight to take the point and win the map. The second map was King's Row and the Cobras started on the defense. Coker was able to hold strong and not allow a single tick to be taken. Now all they had to do was get the first tick to win the map. They tried a new Bastion/Symmetra combo and on the second attempt they were able to take the point and the win. This map's win gives the match win over to Coker 2-0.

The second match was against Kirkwood Community College and this one started on Oasis. This turn on Oasis had the same outcome as the first match, with Coke getting to the point quickly and only conceding control once. The second map was again King's Row and this time Kirkwood was able to push past the Cobas defenses. Kirkwood used their time effectively but were stopped short of the third point. Coker used their Bastion/Symmetra strategy again and were able to get the point on their second fight. Coker kept the team comp and tried to keep the momentum going but were forced to switch up the strategy. After the character swaps, Coker was able to push the payload to the final destination to win the map and the match 2-0.

This win puts Coker at 5-3 in the preseason, and they will return this Sunday (Oct. 27)  at 8:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m..
