Esports Opens Overwatch Playoffs With 3-0 Victory Over Florida Southern

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College Overwatch team played their first regional playoff match against Florida Southern picking up a 3-0 win to open the playoffs.

This was Coker's first best-of-five series of the season and it started on Lijiang Tower. It looked a little rocky as the first round did not go in the way of the Cobras but they were able to come back in the next two rounds to win the first map. The next map was King's Row and Coker started off strong by pushing through the map with 2:51 left on the clock. FSU answered back by taking the first point very quickly but Coker was able to hold them right outside of the second point, where the Cobras were able to hold strong and win the map. The third map was Horizon Lunar Colony and Coker started on the attack. The Cobras did not waste any time and took both points with over five minutes left on the clock. Next, it was up to FSU to answer but Coker was able to hold the first point for the entirety of their defense to win the map and the match 3-0.

Coker's next match will be against the University of Central Florida this Saturday at 7:00 PM EST, and then they will have another match right after if they win. If Coker wins these two matches then they will qualify for the National Championship where the top 64 teams will compete. Due to tournament rules they are not allowed to stream the matches live but will be tweeting live updates on their twitter page at www.twitter.com/cokeresports.
