Cobras Fall to SCAD in Final Match of Tespa Overwatch Season

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College Overwatch team played their last varsity match of the Tespa Overwatch Season on Tuesday (Feb. 12), taking on Savannah College of Art & Design.

The Cobras came into this match at 5-1, while SCAD came in at 3-1. The First map was Lijiang Tower and Coker started the round by taking the point first. Although Savannah was able to take the point back, Coker regrouped to retake it and win the round. The second round started with SCAD taking the point first but Coker was able to quickly rally back and get control. They then held for the remainder of the round to win the round and map.

Coker started Knight's Row on attack and took the first point quickly. They ran into a few roadblocks that delayed them at second point, but once they were able to break through the point, they pushed through the rest of the map. It was then up to SCAD to answer the call, and answer they did. They basically matched Coker in the push, finishing the push only 10 seconds slower than Coker. The game then entered the second set of rounds with Coker at 2:46 time left and SCAD with 2:36 time left. It was SCAD who had to attack first and with their time left they were able to make it just short of the second point. Now all Coker had to do was pass SCAD before their time was up. Although Coker was able to get the first point very quickly, they were not able to get past where SCAD pushed so the Bees won the map. The last map was Hanamura and the winner of this map would take the match. Coker started off on attack and was able to take the first point after a prolonged teamfight. However, SCAD was able to hold strong on the second point. Now Coker had to hold SCAD, and they were able to hold until Overtime but SCAD was able to push them off point to win the map and the match.

With this 1-2 loss the Cobras end the Varsity season at 5-2. The playoffs will start Febuary 23rd and Cobras will take on Full Sail, High Point, or USC Sumter in the first round. The next match for the Overwatch team will be this Sunday (Feb. 17) for their last National and Regional League games. The games will be streamed over at www.twitch.tv/cokeresports
