Cobras Open Varsity League With Win Over Full Sail University - Coker University

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College Esports Overwatch team played their first varsity match today against Full Sail University in the Varsity League, which is comprised of colleges that have official varsity programs, winning the match 2-0.

The first map was Nepal, and Coker was able to start the first round off by winning a very quick teamfight to take control of the point, which the Cobras were able to hold for the rest of the round. In the next round Full Sail was able to win the first fight and take control of the point, but the point was traded back and forth for the entirety of the round. Full Sail was able to get to 99% but Coker was able to take back the point in overtime, and then kept Full Sail away from the point to win the round and the map.

The next map was King's Row and against the Cobras came out swinging, taking the first point very quickly and using that momentum to push the cart through the map. Next Coker was tasked with defending and they were able to hold the first point for a few minutes before Full Sail pushed through their defense and took the point. Full Sail was then able to use their own momentum to push through the rest of the map, forcing another round of King's Row and the Cobras had 5:30 left in their time bank while Full Sail only had 1:00. Coker then was able to hold off Full Sail on the first point, meaning that now all the Cobras had to do was take one tick on the first point. After a prolonged teamfight, Coker was finally able to get past Full Sail and win the map and the match 2-0.
