Esports Cruises Past Kennesaw State in Hearthstone Play

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - This Monday (Nov. 12) the Coker College esports hearthstone team played their final preseason match against Kennesaw State University (KSU). Both teams entered the match 3-3 and were fighting to end the season on a positive note.

Coker brought their Odd Rogue, Odd Paladin, and Secret Hunter decks while KSU brought Bomb Druid, Shudderwok Shaman, and Quest Hunter. The first game was Odd Paladin verses Bomb Druid and although KSU was able to control Coker's board for the majority of the game, eventually it was too much for them and Coker was able to capture the win. The second game was Odd Rogue verses Quest Hunter and again the match was back and forth. KSU was able to complete their quest, but it wasn't in time as Coker found lethal soon after. All Coker needed was a win with their Secret Hunter deck, and KSU sent out their Shudderwok Shaman in response. After a slow start, Coker was able to play their secrets and put their opponents in a tight spot. KSU was never able to recover and Coker was able to complete the series 3-0.

With this win the preseason does end for Coker, but they come out with a 4-3 match record and a 21-9 game record. All matches that they won were 3-0 shutouts and all losses were 2-3. The Cobras will continue the rest of the year by practicing for the upcoming season in the Spring semester.
