Coker Esports Splits Overwatch Matches

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College esports team split their Overwatch matches Sunday (Oct. 21) night, falling to the University of Nevada - Las Vegas (UNLV) and defeating École de technologie supérieure (ETS).

The first match against UNLV started off on King's Row. The Cobras quickly took the first point but were then stopped from capping the second. Next, UNLV was able to cap the second point and then snowball their momentum to take the first map. The second map was Nepal and after two close rounds, UNLV was able to take the match 2-0.

Next up was the match against École de technologie supérieure from Montreal, Québec. The first map was Dorado and although Coker started off slow, they were able to push through three overtimes to take the payload, just short of the third point. In the next round, the Cobras had to defend and were able to hold ÉTS Phoenix on the first point. The next map was Lijiang Tower and the first round was tightly contested. The Cobras were able to retake the point while ÉTS was at 99% and hold onto it for the round victory. During the second round, the Navy and Gold were able to take the point early and held onto it for the remainder of the round for the victory.

The Cobras improved their Overwatch record to 7-3 and will be back in action this Sunday (Oct. 28) at 8:00 PM. Fans can watch the match at www.twitch.tv/cokeresports.
