Esports Splits in Week One of Overwatch Tespa Preseason Play

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College esports team split their matches in week one of Overwatch Tespa preseason action Sunday (Sept. 23) evening. The Cobras dropped a tight 2-1 match against Mississippi State and cruised to a 2-0 victory over Central Florida.

The first match against Mississippi State was a back and forth battle. After dropping the first map at Nepal, the Cobras came back on King's Row with a great defending round, keeping the Bulldogs just outside the first point. It was then up to the third and final map, Dorado where Mississippi State held on early and didn't allow Coker to cap the second point.

Next up was a match against the University of Central Florida. The first map was Horizon Lunar Colony, which is known to be a very hard map to defend. The Cobras were able to defend the map for the whole eight minutes of the round, allowing them to only cap the first point. The Cobras were then able to cap both points successfully in just over two minutes. The second map was Rialto and even though it went into extra rounds, Andrew Schick and Jonathan Gill were able to end the game for the Cobras with an amazing EMP/Self-Destruct combo.

The Cobras return for week two of Tespa preseason action this Sunday (Sept. 30) at 8 PM and 9:30 PM. Fans can watch all of the action live at https://www.twitch.tv/cokeresports and follow updates on Twitter at https://twitter.com/cokeresports.
