Reilly Hall Extends On-Base Streak to 15 Games, Cobras Fall 8-3 to Newberry

NEWBERRY, S.C.- The Coker College baseball team traveled to Newberry College to face the Wolves for the opening game of the South Atlantic Conference series on Friday, March 23.

The Cobras dropped the contest by a score of 8-3. Freshman outfielder Reilly Hall went 3-for-4 with a run scored and RBI, extending his on-base streak to 15 consecutive games.

Coker put Newberry in a pressure-spot early on, scoring two runs in the first inning and another in the second.

The Cobras collected four-straight singles in the top of the first inning coming off the bats of Reilly Hall, Matt Swiderski, Bryson Conner and Brooks Estrada. Estrada's single, naturally, gave Coker the 1-0 lead. Halls' leadoff single made it 15-straight contests the Navy and Gold freshman outfielder has reached base safely. A batter later, RJ Ball grounded into a double play, but scored the second run of the inning, putting the cobras on top 2-0.

Coker scored their third run of the game in the top of the second. Tanner Crosby drove a one-out single to right and moved to second on a Lake Lybrand sacrifice bunt. With two outs and Crosby at second, Hall singled for the second time, putting the Cobras up 3-0.

The Coker offensive halted after that point as Newberry came back with two runs in the second, a run in the fourth, one in each of the sixth and seventh, along with a pair of runs in the eighth taking game one by the score of 8-3.

Reilly Hall provided a third of the hits for Coker Friday night, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and a run driven in. As mentioned, Hall bumped his consecutive on-base streak to 15 games.

Bryson Conner also had a multi-hit game with a 2-for-4 effort and a RBI.

Coker and Newberry will take on games two and three Saturday, March 24. The doubleheader will begin with game one at 1:00 p.m. with the series finale starting roughly 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Video and live-stats can be found by visiting www.cokercobras.com.
