Coker's Midweek Slate with Claflin Shifts to 3pm Start on Tuesday

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker College baseball team will now take on the Claflin University Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, as opposed to the originally scheduled time of 2:00 p.m. The Cobras and Panthers will square off in their second meeting of the season.

The last time the two programs met, Coker used a six-run ninth inning to knock off Claflin 8-5 in Orangeburg, S.C. Heading into the ninth, the Cobras trailed 5-2. Bryson Conner led the charge with a double, followed by Michael Serafin reaching on an error allowing Conner to score. With one out and Serafin on second, Larry McCabe sent an RBI single to right before RJ Ball doubled to bring the Cobras within one. Brooks Estrada also collected a base hit, putting runners on the corners for Connor Cleary, who was walked to load the bases. Matt Swiderski then stepped in and provided the go-ahead two-run single. After a double steal and a wild pitch, Coker took their 8-5 lead into the bottom half of the ninth to hold on for the victory.

Estrada still leads all Cobras at the plate, coming into the midweek slate batting .386 with six extra base hits and nine runs driven in on 70 at-bats.

Coker will square off with the Panthers at 3:00 p.m. from Tom J. New Field at Dave Schmotzer Stadium on Tuesday, March 13. Video and live-stats can be found by visiting www.cokercobras.com.
