Cobras Drop Non-Conference Tilt with No. 25 North Greenville

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker baseball fell to No. 25 North Greenville 10-1 on Tuesday (Apr. 11) in non-conference action. 

North Greenville struck quickly to open the game, scoring twice in the first. The Crusaders were able to open up the game with a six-run third inning to pull away.

Coker (19-18, 9-12 SAC) scored its lone run in the seventh when AJ Strnad scored from second on a single from Jon Koski and a bobble by the Crusader center fielder.

Darius Coldiron, Strnad, Koski and Scott Burnley recorded hits in the contest. Brooks Estrada made his first start on the mound for the Cobras, taking the loss. The right-hander allowed six earned runs on four hits in 2.2 innings, while walking five and striking out one. Cody Brown relieved Estrada, recording 0.1 innings and giving up two earned runs on three hits and also one walk. Jake Moore had a strong relief outing, going 4.0 innings and surrendering one earned run on five hits. Moore also punched out two in his appearance. Brady Shuey relieved Moore for 2.0 innings, allowing one earned run, one walk and three hits.

Coker takes the field again this weekend (Friday Apr. 14-Saturday Apr. 15) against Brevard for a three-game South Atlantic Conference series. First pitch on Friday is set for 3:00 p.m. at Tom J. New Field at Dave Schmotzer Stadium. Saturday will be a doubleheader starting with a nine inning game at 12:00 p.m. followed by a seven inning game starting at 3:00 p.m. Tickets for the games are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
