ORANGEBURG, S.C.- Coker baseball (20-13, 6-6) notched their 20th win of the year when they defeated Claflin on Wednesday (Mar. 30) 9-4.

The Cobras trailed 2-0 until the third when they plated four runs to take a two-run lead. Catcher Scott Burnley led off the frame with a walk, and would score from first on an RBI double from AJ Strnad. Will Winslow would bring Strnad home with a sacrifice fly for the second out of the inning, followed by a Thomas Lopez single and a Clint Allen walk. Ryan Wayne would step to the dish and mash a double scoring both Allen and Lopez.

In total, four Cobras recorded multi-hit games in the win. Winslow and Lopez each went 2-5 while Charlie Burgiueres and Wayne both went 3-4 and knocked in three runs apiece. Wayne also mashed his third homer of the year in the game.

Jake Moore (1-0) collected his first collegiate win in the contest, firing one scoreless inning and striking out one. Moore was one of nine Cobra pitchers used in the win. Forrest Arnold and Anthony Scaccia each tossed one inning apiece before Moore's entry, while he was relieved by appearances from Will Sutton, Ben Brown, Thane Clark, Kenny Barry, Joey Carpenter and JT Whritner.

The Cobras will return to conference play on Friday (April 1) when they travel to Lenoir-Rhyne for a three-game series. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
