ANDERSON, S.C.- The Cobra bats were held in check as Coker lost its series opener to Anderson 9-3 on Friday (Mar. 4).

Seven different Cobras recorded hits in the contest, while Miguel Frias picked up two RBI and AJ Strnad added another. Bryson Conner, Thomas Lopez and Jack Leech each swiped a base in the loss.

Coker's biggest chance would come in the sixth, when the visitors would plate two runs to cut into the deficit. Conner led off the inning with a walk, followed up by a single to left by Darius Coldiron. An error was made on the play, moving both men up a base. Lopez was hit by a pitch following a pitching change, and Frias delivered the clutch two-RBI single to right.

Dallas Baldwin (2-1) took the loss, tossing five innings allowing four runs, three earned on five hits. The  right-hander also walked four and fired four strikeouts.

The Cobras will return to action tomorrow (Mar. 5) to finish out the series. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 1:00 p.m.
