Cobras Take Series Opener at Brevard

BREVARD, N.C.- A pair of three-run innings pushed Coker past Brevard 6-2 in its conference opener on Friday (Feb. 26).

A Bryson Conner single led off the fourth inning, and a two-out single from Miguel Frias moved Conner to third. Jack Leech would drive Conner home with a single up the middle, followed up by a Ryan Wayne double that would score both Leech and Frias.

Coker would strike for three more in the seventh with the use of some timely hitting. Back-to-back-to-back singles from Will Winslow, Bryson Conner and Darius Coldiron coupled with an error would bring one across, which would bring on a pitching change for the home team. Thomas Lopez would welcome the new hurler with a two-RBI single through the left side, plating Conner and Coldiron.

Dallas Baldwin (2-0) notched the quality start in the win, firing 7.1 innings allowing two runs, one earned on five hits. The right-hander also punched out eight and walked three. Anthony Scaccia would come on to notch his first save of the season, firing 1.2 innings of relief and picking up one strikeout and allowing one hit.

The Cobras will look for the series win tomorrow in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for high noon.
